Company History

Early History

SwapLoader began its roots in Sweden in the early 1980’s with ABS-GELL. The ABS-GELL hooklift hoists were marketed in Europe and used by the Swedish military.

In the early 1980’s, EFCO acquired ABS-GELL and began the development of SwapLoader hooklift hoists through a Swedish subsidiary.

EFCO brought SwapLoader hooklifts to the U.S. in the late 1980’s and completely redesigned them to meet EFCO’s exacting standards. It was “Westernized” with all American parts and built to suit the needs of the hooklift market.

First Model Release

In 1991 SwapLoader was one of the first companies in North America to introduce the hooklift product to the market. Our first release to the market was the model SL-125, a 12,000 lb. capacity hoist.
